None of these monikers are just about color. The point of the article is that the shorthand monikers are about history of a specific place and the specific people in it. And the equity due to each…a “similar experience” does not equalize the different degrees/types/value of the equity due to specific people. For example, no group on earth has more equity in the United States than the descendants of U.S. slaves…even if you are a descendant of enslaved people somewhere else in the world. That’s not how justice works. As I said in the article, call people exactly what they are racially and ethnically and name their immigration status/where they are from instead of attempting to amalgamate unrelated peoples into some convenient shorthand.
